Lightning Talks on Business Goals

Learn to understand and tackle problems from many different points of view. Discussions should highlight business goals, success metrics, technical capabilities and potential challenges, and relevant user research.

CHAPTERS: Masculinity

CHAPTERS is a series of book-led discussions on modern adulting. For our fourth CHAPTER, this November, we have chosen the theme of Masculinity.

November is a weird month...the evenings are dark, effigies of Guy Fawkes are being burnt & people are hustling their way out of this decade. In addition to this, men have been charitably shaving their beards into questionable moustaches.

We will discuss the gendered narrative behind emotional expression, physicality, household roles and monetary expectations.

We have chosen excerpts that will explore all these and more. Some you will expect & some you won't.

We have curated a stimulating event that will begin with a surprise session. After this, we will break up into small groups led by your bookclub hosts.

No need to prepare or bring any thing to the sessions! Refreshments provided as always. Photos will be taken on the day.

MODERN LIT

We are a group of friends that live and work in London. We work in various industries, but connected over our love of books and learning. Think of us like a modern day Sex And The City, but with books and melanin.

Your Book Club Hosts

AMILE INUSA

Junior Doctor & Podcaster

Amile is our resident doctor! She’s pretty nifty with the graphics for our Instagram feed & started reviewing books as a way to force herself back into reading after only picking up medical textbooks at university. As you can see, the plan worked. Amile is a big believer in community and working as a team. She loves reading inspirational biographies & contemporary African lit.

daniella nicholls

Entrepreneur, Creative Strategist & Pilates Teacher

A true entrepreneur, Daniella not only works for herself, but also helps others develop their businesses and personal brands. She's a kind, savvy and no-nonsense type of gal. If that wasn't enough, she's also a vegan, teaches Pilates and has flawless skin. Her favourite genre of books, of course, are business and self development.

louisa villeneuve

Corporate Risk Consultant & Violinist

Louisa works for one of the Big Four, but is not your Average Corporate Gal. In fact, she’s the go-to for wisdom and affirmations in the group chat. She’ll be the first to look polished and glam, but will also be the first to question and disrupt the status quo. Her favourite genre of books are business and academic sociology. When she's not busy at the Wharf, she's somewhere hosting a dinner party or playing her violin.

Define

Jessica Annas Defines the User Journey

We’re capturing more data than ever before. And we’re doing it more precisely. But we’re still not using data to its full potential. Used well, numbers can teach us about each other, inspire our creativity and help us take risks and innovate in our work.

12:00pm

Diverge

Ashton Ajayi Discusses Diverge Methods

Ashton Ajayi of Pixel Palace will explain how marketers can use our insights and knowledge about the customer to influence and improve the bigger business strategy.

Decide

Chris Logan Reviews Decide Methods

Everyone’s focusing on it, but it’s not a focused word. What does it mean exactly? Why does it matter? And how do we do it right? Attend small group workshops about mobile ads, mobile responsive site and mobile app development.

“Design is not making beauty, beauty emerges from selection, affinities, integration, love.”
